Nigeria’s minister of sports, John Enoh, is upbeat that the Super Falcons will scale through the group stage hurdle at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The Super Falcons started their campaign in Paris 2024 on a disappointing note, going down to a 1-0 defeat against Brazil.
Randy Waldrum’s side must now beat world champion Spain in their next game on Sunday to have any chance of progressing into the quarterfinals.
Enoh, who praised the players for their spirited display against Brazil, believes they have the quality to beat Spain.
“The next match against Spain, the World Cup champion, will be daunting, but not insurmountable,” he said after the game.
“It wasn’t a bad game (vs. Brazil).
“We could have been a goal or two up before Brazil scored their goal.”
The Super Falcons will be up against world champion Spain in Nantes on Sunday.
