No fewer than five people have lost their lives in a road accident along Akure-Ado Ekiti expressway, at Ita Ogbolu, the headquarters of the Akure North Local Government Area of the state.
The accident which occurred on Sunday.
A video on Facebook posted by Bola Awofisayo showed the lifeless bodies of the crash victims laid by the roadside, while the driver of the bus was seen trapped behind one of the vehicles involved.
The Federal Road Safety Commission on Monday confirmed that the accident which involved a truck and a occurred on Sunday.
The sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr Samuel Ibitoye, who confirmed the incident, said the crash happened when the two vehicles collided, leading to the death of five people.
“Five people died in the accident, including two male adults, a female adult and two female children.
It was caused by speeding occasioning head on collision on a road under construction,” Ibitoye explained.
Ibitoye urged motorists to always be mindful of traffic rules and regulations while driving.
