Nigeria’s Falconets began their final preparations for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with a 1-0 victory over Poland in their latest warm-up match ahead of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Friday at the Municipal Stadium, Brzeg, Poland.
Mamudu Mary scored the only goal of the encounter in first-half stoppage time, giving Nigeria the lead shortly before the break.
The Falconets held on to their advantage after the interval to complete a narrow victory over the tournament hosts, providing the Nigerian side with an important boost as preparations for the competition continue.
The match formed part of Nigeria’s final preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, which will be staged in Poland from September 5 to 27.
The Falconets arrived in Poland earlier this week and have been stepping up their preparations ahead of the tournament.
Nigeria, who has twice finished as runners-up at the U-20 Women’s World Cup, will compete in Group F at this year’s tournament alongside Spain, China PR, and New Caledonia.
The victory over Poland gives the Falconets another positive result to take into the final phase of their preparations.
The team will now turn their attention to their next warm-up fixture against South Korea.
The South Korea match is scheduled for September 1 at the Remes Resort & Spa Football Stadium and will serve as Nigeria’s final friendly before the World Cup begins.
With the tournament opener approaching, the Falconets will be looking to use their remaining preparation time to fine-tune their squad before beginning their campaign against the other teams in Group F.
