The alumni of Progressive Secondary Grammar School Ado-Awaye, both in the country and in diaspora, will gather together from Thursday, 24th September, to Sunday, 27th September, 2026, to celebrate the golden jubilee anniversary of the school, which moulded their lives.
A number of activities have been lined up to mark the anniversary, while dignitaries such as the Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology are expected to grace part of the lined-up programmes
The Alado of Ado-Awaye, his royal Majesty Oba Ademola Olugbile Folakanmi, Makunledoye 11, who is also a product of the school, and his brother Obas would add royal glamour to the anniversary.
According to a statement by Mogaji Soladoye Akeem Adewole, the National Secretary of the School’s Alumni Association, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, the Chairman of the School’s Alumni Association, will also grace the occasion along with his friends and other members of the Board of Trustees.
A former deputy governor of Oyo State, Chief Iyiola Oladokun, an indigene of the town, is also one of the expected guests of honour.
During the opening ceremony on Thursday, 24th September, there will be a free health outreach for 200 people in the town, while a health talk/lecture on the effects of drug abuse will be delivered to the students.
On the same day, posthumous awards will be presented to the pioneer principal of the school, the late Mr. Akintola, and the second principal, Mr. David Babalola, father of distinguished Senator Gbenga Babalola.
Other programmes include commissioning of projects, interaction with students, alumni get-togethers, and presentations of awards to staff and students, Jumat service, and Thanksgiving service, among other programmes.
The statement urged the alumni spread all over the globe and their friends to donate generously to the school that made them.
