Twelve governorship candidates for the 2027 Oyo State election are expected to participate in the Independence Day edition of the Public Square Town Hall Meeting that will be held in Ibadan on Thursday.
The programme, organised by Success FM Ibadan, will take place at the Otunba Subomi Balogun Conference Centre, UI Hotels, University of Ibadan, according to a statement by the station’s General Manager, Alhaji Jagunmade Adesina Paj 1.
The town hall is designed to provide a platform for citizens, political stakeholders and the candidates to engage on issues affecting the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Registration and arrival will take place between 12 noon and 1pm, while the meeting is scheduled to commence at 1pm.
The candidates invited to the event are Hazeem Gbolarumi of the Peoples Democratic Party; Barrister Sharafadeen Alli of the All Progressives Congress; Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi of the Allied Peoples Movement; Chief Adegoboyega Taofeeq Adegoke of the African Democratic Congress; Comrade Sikiru Bayo Titilola-Sodo of the Action Alliance; and Mr Sola Kareem of the Labour Party.
Others are Mr Kunle Olatunji of the Action Democratic Party; Mr Yusuf Akim Adebola of the Nigeria Democratic Congress; Oloye Saheed Oladele of the African Action Congress; Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat of Accord; Mogaji Olusegun Agboola of the Social Democratic Party; and Dr Yunus Kareem Ayandoye of the Peoples Redemption Party.
The forum is expected to give the candidates an opportunity to articulate their positions on key issues while responding to questions from citizens and other stakeholders.
The event will be broadcast live on Success 105.3 FM, Ibadan, with additional coverage on Success FM Live on Facebook and the station’s other social media platforms, as the organisers said admission into the conference hall would be on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to available space.
They also said adequate security arrangements had been made for the event, which is expected to attract political stakeholders, civil society representatives, community leaders and members of the public.
The Independence Day edition comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
