The Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organization has come under heavy fire from the Oyo State Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Campaign Council for its response to recent remarks made by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed on federal interference.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday and signed by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Co-Director of Media and Publicity for the Oyo State APM Governorship Campaign Council, the campaign organisation described the Alli team’s statement as a “loud confession” of fear and impending defeat in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Addressing the controversy surrounding Governor Bala Mohammed’s recent statements, the APM Campaign Council emphasized that acknowledging federal efforts reflects standard intergovernmental diplomacy rather than a shift in political alignment or an endorsement of President Bola Tinubu.
Dr. Olanrewaju noted that state executives across Nigeria routinely recognize federal collaboration when it delivers results for their citizens. He cited a similar instance where Governor Seyi Makinde acknowledged federal support during the rescue of kidnapped individuals in Oriire earlier in May 2026.
The council maintained that administrative courtesy does not negate Governor Mohammed’s prior endorsements of Governor Makinde’s leadership or signal any strategic realignment toward the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The campaign council contended that the opposition’s focus on the routine diplomatic remark stems from an inability to challenge Governor Makinde’s governance record in Oyo State.
According to the APM leadership, public support for Makinde remains firm due to his pragmatic, people-centered approach to administration and consistent development initiatives across the state.
The statement rejected assertions that the comments would weaken Makinde’s political standing or alter voter sentiment, calling the opposition’s arguments “intellectually dishonest” and an attempt to distort routine administrative cooperation into political point-scoring.
“As the gubernatorial election approaches, it is clear that the Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation is afraid of imminent defeat. Their behaviour reflects a campaign that has run out of ideas, out of momentum, and out of credible narratives.
“Clinging to Bala Mohammed’s comment will not change their fate. The electorate is determined to keep them perpetually away from the Agodi Government House,” the statement read in part.
With election day approaching, political exchanges in Oyo State continue to heighten. The APM Campaign Council reiterated its confidence in the electorate’s support, stating that voters in the state remain focused on tangible performance rather than political rhetoric as they prepare to decide the leadership of the Agodi Government House.
