The people of Ogun State, especially Muslims have been challenged to take advantage of the holy month of Ramadan to move closer to the Almighty Allah by being engaged in spiritual activities through religiosity, love, righteousness, good neighborliness and kindness even after the Ramadan period.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, gave the admonition, in his welcome address at maiden edition of the Assembly’s Ramadan lecture held at the Assembly Complex Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, saying that the purpose of fasting by Muslims was to further improve on their righteousness inwardly and outwardly by abstaining from sinful deeds and training themselves on the control of thoughts and desires.
The Speaker, who stated that the lecture marked another milestone in the annals of the Assembly, urged them to take the spiritual advantage of the month, being the holiest month in the Islamic Calander known for prayer and charity to achieve piety and righteousness.

In another development, the Assembly has commiserated with the Government and people of the State on the demise of an elder statesman and a former Secretary to the State Government, Deacon Poju Adeyemi, describing his demise a colossal loss to the people of Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government, Ogun West Senatorial District and the State at large.
The Speaker stated this while responding to the submission of his colleague-lawmaker from Yewa North II State Constituency, Rasaq Oduntan who announced the death of the former Secretary to the State Government under the Olusegun Osoba regime said late Adeyemi during his lifetime was a progressive political stalwart who related with all and sundry beyond partisan politics.
