A renowned Islamic scholar Fadhur Raham Kehinde Tijani has cautioned the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Dr. Mashid Lekan Balogun against being used by some elements who are enemies of Ibadan tradition.
Presenting his annual Ramadan lecture at the Ali-Iwo central Mosque, Agodi Ibadan, the cleric, who is the son of the founding Chief Imam of Ali-Iwo central mosque told the Ibadan high Chief who he referred to as Obalola not to be over ambitious over the throne of the ancient city as God in His mercy will see him to the throne, whenever it is his turn.
Dr. Tijani, who is also, the National Chief Missioner of Al-Fatihu-Alqareeb, prayed that God will elongate the life of Chief Lekan Balogun to ascend the throne of the Olubadan of Ibadanland.
He said, Chief Lekan Balogun has been in the limelight for almost 40 years, hence, there is no reason for him to be over ambitious.
Tracing the story of the ancient Ali-iwo compound, the cleric said, forefathers of the area were mainly Islamic scholars(Alfas) and warriors, who migrated from the ancient city of Iwo to Ibadanland.
He enjoined Ali-iwo indigenes to continue their co-operation with the Otun Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, who he said will lead them to the promised land.
