All is now set for the governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde to inaugurate a former Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Hon Kehinde Olatunji Ayoola and other commissioner nominees recently screened and cleared by the state’s legislators.

Makinde has also expressed optimism that his executive council will be put in place next week.

The governor stated this on Wednesday while playing host to the officials of Nigeria British Chamber of Commerce, who were in his Agodi office on a courtesy call.

Seyi Makinde had earlier forwarded names of 14 nominees to the Assembly.

A former speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Kehinde Ayoola; former chairman of Ibadan North West local government, Dr Wasiu Olatubosun as well as 32-year old Barr. Seun Ashamu and others are now going to be part of Makinde’s cabinet.

During the screening of the nominees by the state’s legislators, Hon Ayoola, who was the first to be screened, he represented Oyo East/West state constituency between 1999 and 2003. In line with section 102 of the Nigeria constitution, he was asked to take a ‘bow and go’ after presenting himself.

Like Ayoola, Barr Adeniyi Farinto, who was chairman of Iwajowa local government between 2007 and 2011 and later represented Iwajowa state constituency between 2011 and 2015, was also asked to take a ‘bow and go’.

This was after Farintó was asked what would likely be his contribution to the judicial arm of the government by the deputy speaker but was countered by the minority leader, Hon. Asimiyu Alarape. Alarape had said that, Farinto should be accorded the privilege to take his bow and go, being a former member of the Assembly. He cited the same section of the constitution as in the case of Rt. Hon. Kehinde Ayoola. And the motion was seconded.

Hon. Funmilayo Okikiolu Orisabiyi being a former member of the house, was also asked to take a bow.

Hon. Ojekunle Jacob Ojemuyiwa is also a former member of the House of Assembly. Just like the trio who came before him, he was accorded the same privilege, to take his bow and go.

Chief Bayo Lawal, after presenting himself to the house, was eulogized by the two lawmakers from Ibadan North East, and was asked also to take a bow.

Dr. Bashir Abiodun Bello, was the next to present himself to the house. He was equally asked to take a bow and go. But it wasn’t before he was asked questions relating to primary health care, tradomedical, rises in maternal death and other health sector problem.

The other nominees where afterwards screened and cleared.
