The Abiola Ajimobi-led government in Oyo State has stated the reason behind its decision to indefinitely close down the Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, in Oyo Town.
The move was to forestall destruction of properties following violent protest by students over their welfare.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Adeniyi Olowofela, conveyed the closure, in Ibadan, on Friday.
The statement directed students to vacate the school premises immediately, while law enforcement agents have been enjoined to secure lives and government property on the college.
Olowofela said that the college would remain closed until normalcy returns.
