The Rector, The Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Dayo Hephzibah Oladebeye has charged the newly matriculated students to stay away from all forms of social vices, respect their colleagues and staff of the institution for a fruitful and productive stay on the campus.

Dr. Oladebeye who disclosed this on Friday during his matriculation speech at the school’s stadium in Ado Ekiti, said that the students must see their admission as a unique opportunity to aim and attain higher academic laurel and equip themselves for a rewarding future as well as a challenge for them to live a morally upright life despite the pervading decay of the larger society.

According to the Rector, the institution is known for decency and academic excellence, stressing that the school would not tolerate any anti-social behaviors.

He continued “I assert that this polytechnic has maintained and will continue to maintain zero-tolerance to all anti-social behaviors such as examination misconduct, prostitution, cultism, sexual harassment, hooliganism, gangsterism, corruption and any form of social vices”.

Dr. Oladebeye advised the students to always remember that the distance between the day’s ceremony and convocation ceremony is quite wide, adding that it is important that the journey ends successfully.

”For this to happen, you need to be regular in attendance at lectures, carrying out all your assignments, shunning deviant behaviors and other vices that can expose you and others to danger” he said.

The Rector, however, assured the newly matriculated students of the institution of accessible facilities to enhance their programs on both campuses which includes: Publication of Textbooks, Sporting and Relaxation Facilities, Information and Communication Technology ICT, Well-Equipped Digital Library, Best Student Scholarship Award among other facilities.

12,871 candidates for National Diplomal (ND), and 2,37 for Higher National Diploma (HND) were matriculated at the event.

The matriculation ceremony featured presentation of awards to outstanding students by the Rector and match pass display by the cadets of the institution.
