The Michael Adeyemo-led Oyo State House of Assembly, Thursday, passed the 2017 Appropriation and Oyo State Finance Bills into Law.
The two bills were considered by the lawmakers after the Chairperson of the House committee on Public Accounts, Finance and Appropriation, Hon. Bolanle Agbaje had presented the reports to the House and thereafter read for the third time on the floor of the House.
The reports were read by a member of the Committe, Hon. Afeez Adeleke representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju state constituency on behalf of the Chairperson of the Committee.
In the report presented by Hon. Afeez Adeleke on the 2017 Appropriation Bill, the sum of #891,200,000:00 was earmarked for Oyo State housing corporation, Water corporation of Oyo State got one billion naira, Ministry of Water Resources got two billion naira, the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) for the commencement
of digitization programme while the Ibadan Urban Flood Management also received 7.1 billion naira respectively.
The House considered the reports of these bills clause by clause having constituted itself into committees of some time under the leadership of the Speaker of the House, Hon. Michael Adesina Adeyemo.
The House also received a report presented by the Chairman House Committee on Youth and sports, Hon. Fatai Adeshina representing representing Ibadan South East Constituency 1 on the investigation carried out on the authenticity of the Asegun Comprehensive High School football team.
Similarly, the House also deliberated upon the need for the State internally revenue service to be aggressive in its revenue drive.
The House critically looked into the economic and poor financial situation of the State with a view to engaging the managements of the State’s internally revenue services to fashion out effective means of improving the internally revenue generation to enhance government performance in the current year.
The bill was co-sponsored by Hon. Kehinde Hassan Subair, the Majority Leader of the House, the Speaker, Hon Michael Adesina Adeyemo and the Chairman parliamentary council, Hon. Olusegun Ajanaku representing Ibadan South West Constituency II.
While briefing correspondents on their activities on Thursday, the Chairman House Committee on Information, Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji, explained that the two bills passed by the lawmakers were for the overall development of the State.
The House has adjourned its sitting till Tuesday 4th April, 2017.
