Senator Ibikunle Amosun, the governor of Ogun State has, on Saturday, announced that his administration is ready to allocate all the modern shopping complexes built by the state government to traders. This will happen on Thursday March 30, 2017.
The governor disclosed this in the course of interaction with traders at Omida market, Itoku market, Sapon market and Isale Igbein market when he visited on Saturday evening.
In the course of what appears like a sensitisation walk, the governor personally went round to interact with the market men and women while intimating them with plans to allocate the ultra modern shopping complexes on Thursday, March 30, 2017.
In the course of the interaction, the governor explained that stores in the shopping complexes would be allocated first to traders who were dislocated to pave way for those modern shopping complexes to be constructed.
“You will recall that back then, we took your photographs, did video recordings and took other records of your shops that were affected.
Now we are simply going back to the records and would allocate, first to those who were affected,” Governor Amosun said.
Explaining why it took a while for the newly built ultra modern shopping complexes to be allocated, the governor said it was due to the need to ensure that all categories of traders were catered for.
“We realised that not all our people can afford to take up shops within the newly built ultra modern shopping malls not only because of cost but also due to the number of shops available. So we decided to ensure that no one was left behind by constructing some additional market stalls and shops.
Now they are all ready and that is why we are allocating them by this week Thursday,” Governor Amosun said.
He added that this would not be a one off exercise as the state government is ready to build additional modern market places in order to accommodate more traders who have signified interest but cannot participate in the current phase.
The newly built ultra modern shopping complexes are fitted with modern conveniences and state of the art facilities, including lifts and escalators.
These fully air conditioned, multi-level modern shopping complexes are set to permanently change the looks and feel of a public marketplace in Ogun State.
Indeed, they are a testament to the success of the Governor Amosun led administration’s Mission to rebuild Ogun State.
