The first ever Two-Day Summit on how to enhance professionalism being organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council holds on Tuesday and Wednesday, 28th and 29th March, 2017 at the Jogor Centre, Ibadan.
Targeted at the members of the union and other critical stakeholders with the theme ‘Journalists’ Image and Professionalism’, the summit is in line with the campaign promises of the current administration of Adewumi Faniran-led Executive Council of the Oyo NUJ.
A release from the chairman of the organizing committee, Oladele Ogunsola hinted that the summit is aimed at bringing members and stakeholders together to address various issues affecting the practice of the profession towards repositioning of the Oyo NUJ for a redirection and transformation into a body of professionals well equipped to meet the current challenges.
Speakers at the summit expected to be declared open by the Executive Governor of Oyo State, His Excellency, Senator Abiola Ajimobi are drawn from the academia, journalism profession and other related critical sectors.
Equally some states’ governors, including the Executive Governors of Ogun, Osun and Ondo States, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN respectively as well as the Honorable Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed are expected to deliver keynote addresses.
The Planning Committee for the Summit drawn from across the various chapels of the Union in the state has urged participants from the respective chapels to create enough time for the summit in order to maximally benefit from it towards achieving the set objectives.
