The Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan South/West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Opaleye has pledged to wage a war against corruption, indiscipline and dishonesty in order to boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the council.
He added that this is in inline with the directives of the state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
The new helmsman at the metropolitan council area who was accompanied by hundreds of his political associates to resume work on Monday made the call while speaking with newsmen at the council secretariat.
In his address, Opaleye reaffirmed his determination to tackle corruption, decline in educational standard, maintaining of clean environment for the healthy living of his people among others as his action plan.
“In line with the ideology of the dynamic Governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, we must jettison the old fraudulent ways of doing things if we really desire a good positive change and for the sake of our dear state and local government”.
“Considering the recession ravaging the economy of the country which had also weakened the financial system of the state, it would be wise of us all to put heads together and block all the leakages and loopholes to boost the internally generated revenue of the council.
“The style of administration I want to run is an all inclusive government, where everyone will be partakers, especially the private sector, they will be principal partners in progress and development of our council”, he noted.
He, however, urged everyone, especially the career officers of the local government to support his administration to render diligent services with utmost loyalty in order to deliver good governance to the good people of Ibadan South West Local government.
