The head of One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaj Ji has described the decision of the Nigerian Senate to withhold confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) as a ploy to protect their loot.
Sat Guru Maharaj Ji who disclosed this in a press release signed and made available to newsmen in Ibadan also stated that the controversy surrounding the appointment and confirmation of Ibrahim Magu is very much familiar among the elite-gang culture of preserving corruption.
He opined that efforts of the Senate against the confirmation of Magu was to isolate themselves permanently from investigation and prosecution by the EFCC, saying that is the reason they are looking for means to shoot down the anti-corruption agency.
Sat Guru Maharaj Ji further submitted that though Magu is not perfect and his record may not be spotless, however, he has tendency and a good heart that is extremely against high level corruption, particularly among the members of political class.
He reiterated his commitment towards Nigeria becoming a corruption free nation, and he, however, emphasized on why Nigerians need to look beyond churches and mosques before solving corruption cases because those are places where ‘corruptionists’ are aided and abated.
He advised the National Assembly to stop unnecessary wielding of immense constitutional authority over appointments to major public institutions.
