Super Eagles’ Coach, Salisu Yusuf has charged players in the Nigeria Professional Football League to adapt to a different training regime and style to improve their chance of getting a call-up to the team.
Since his first competitive game in charge of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has extended invitation to four NPFL based players, though none got a minute’s action.
The German Technical Adviser had previously blamed the off season and inactivity of players in the league as reasons for overlooking them on specific occasions.
Coach Salisu’s comments come ahead of a planned camping in May, where Super Eagles players ; mostly Europe-based, will converge in France before the 8 June Afcon qualifier against South Africa in Uyo.
Salisu Yusuf , who has been scouting “exceptional” players in the NPFL for invitation to the CHAN Eagles, suggested the home based players will require extensive camping to bring them up to speed with the tactics and style of the main Eagles team.
He explained that the players may not readily fit into Rohr’s plans because they’re used to a different approach to training and match situations, which may require some time for them to adjust.
