Friends, colleagues and top Nigerians gathered at the prestigious Civic Centre, Agodi, Ibadan to honour the Late Director General of DAWN Commission, Mr Oladipo Famakinwa and, to pay tributes to him on Monday, May 1, 2017
Many, who spoke about him, including the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who was represented by Mr Olalekan Alli, his SSG paid glowing tribute to him.
Ogun, Ondo, Lagos, Osun and Ekiti states were also prominently represented. The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi sent in Mr Adedapo Adelegan, a strong member of the Nigerian Institute of Directors.
Members of the Afenifere Renewal Group were also represented by Ayo Afolabi and others. Chief Niyi Akintola, Otunba Deji Osibogun, Mr Gbenro Adegbola, Yanju Adegbite of BCOS, Olayinka Agboola of Parrot Xtra, Comrade Awa Bamiji and several others were there too.
The University of Ibadan community was represented by Professor Tayo Adesina of the institution’s Department of History and other eminent scholars. The Group Managing Director of O’dua Investment, Mr Raji was also present.
Famakinwa’s final journey will continue at the Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos on May 5. He will be interred at the Ikoyi Vaults and Gardens, Lagos.
A spokesman of DAWN Commission, Seye Oyeleye informed PMParrotng that all arrangements have been concluded to give the late technocrat a very befitting burial.
This was also confirmed by the deceased’s elder brother, Lekan Famakinwa who was accompanied to the event by two of Dipo’s three children, Oluwatimilehin and Oluwatofarati.
