After years of search for sponsorship for the Oyo State Federation Cup, the effort has paid off as the FA has unveiled Cool Global Interlink the title sponsor of the oldest soccer tourney.
This was disclosed Sunday evening during the state’s final of the tourney where Shooting Stars Sports Club defeated Crown FC of Ogbomoso in an exciting game played at the Lekan Salami Sport’s Complex, Adamasingba Ibadan.
Addressing the sporting press after the game, the CEO of the firm that took up the sponsorship, Hamzat Ismail said he’s happy investing in the State Challenge Cup considering its rich tradition.
He, however, pledged to bring in many new innovations that would make the tourney more attractive to participants.
Also reacting, the Oyo FA boss, Chief James Odeniran expressed his happiness on the successful hosting of this year’s tourney, while thanking the firm that showed interest to bankroll the FA Cup for three years.
He, however, added that the full details about the deal would soon be made public as the two sides are still working on some gray areas in the terms of agreement.
Among dignitaries that witnessed the final included Chief Adegboye Onigbinde, Dr. Felix Owolabi, Mr. Demola Olajire, the publicity scribe of Nigeria Football Federation, The Commissioner for Youths & Sports, Barr. Yomi Oke and Alh. Gbolagade Busari, chairman Shooting Star among others.
