Southwest Governors, eminent personalities across the south western states and indeed Nigeria are presently inside the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, Secretariat, Ibadan, the venue of the lying-in State organised by the South west Governments to pay their last respect to late Major-General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, former Governor of old Western Region and Western state of Nigeria.
The Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who is the host Governor, his counterparts from Ondo, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, Lagos, Mr Akinwumi Ambode, Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola were present while the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Ekiti state, Mr Peter Ayodele Fayose were represented by their deputies, Mrs Yetunde Onanuga and Dr Kolapo Olusola respectively.
The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki was also powerfully present.
Also in attendance among the array of past Governors that were in attendance included Chief Bisi Akande, former Governor of Osun state, Dr Omololu Olunloyo of old Oyo state who equally served as a commissioner under late Adebayo, Gen. Oluwole Rotimi, Gen. David Jemibewon, Gen Oladayo Popoola, Admiral Akin Aduwo, and Sen. Cornelius Adebayo.
Similarly, the scion of Adeyinka Adebayo family who is also a former Governor of Ekiti state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and widow of the deceased, Chief (Mrs) Modupe Adebayo were in attendance.
PMParrotng reporter also say the first Aide de Camp (ADC) to late Adeyinka Adebayo, Gen. J. Ola Oni and his wife as well as Senators Monsurat Sunmonu and Lanre Tejuoso from Lagos State were equally among the dignitaries presently paying their last respect at the lying-in-state.
The Governors had earlier received the Motorcade at the government house Arcade, Agodi, Ibadan on its way from Lagos State around 2 p.m before their departure to the House of Chiefs, Secretariat, Ibadan. The motorcade was led to Ibadan by the Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwumi Ambode.
Late Major-General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo born in 1928 and was the former Governor of old Western Region and Western state of Nigeria between August, 1966 to April, 1971.
He is survived by his wife, Chief (Mrs) Modupe Adebayo, children and grandchildren. His remains are expected to be interred tomorrow in his home state of Ekiti, Iyin Ekiti specifically.
