Policemen Reportedly Caused It, PPRO Denies

Not less than 17 people lost their lives in Ibadan on Wednesday morning in another tragic auto accident with mangled bodies littering the scene.

PMParrot eye witness account had it that the accident involving an articulated vehicle and an 18-seater commercial bus, both coming from Lagos occurred under the Idi Ayunre Overhead Bridge, not to far from Guru Village was caused by a special Police High Way patrol team.

Our source recounted “The police team stationed under the Idi Ayunre bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan Express way stopped the Bus coming from Lagos. You know that place is sloppy, he attempted to obey the police by applying his brakes but the articulated vehicle coming behind him did not realize this in time or lost control and he crushed the bus.

“As expected, the police team, whose patrol vehicle was packed inside a nearby bush promptly disappeared.”

However, when PMParrot.com contacted the Police Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, he confirmed the accident adding that he did not have any additional information to give us because data was still being gathered by officers and men on ground there.

He also decried the attitude of Nigerians towards the Police in instances like this.

His words “Nigerians should please stop ascribing what does not belong to the police to them. Policemen did not cause the accident. When did it become a crime for policemen to visit accident scenes? I can tell you authoritatively that our men did not cause the accident.”
