Birmingham City have joined the race to sign Super Eagles striker, Henry Onyekuru.

According to the Daily Mail, the Blues will have to break their transfer record to snap up the young striker from Eupen, who West Ham is targeting, with a fee of 7.5 million pounds being mooted.

Sportsmail reported earlier this week that West Ham have been told they will have to pay £7.87m for Eupen winger Onyekuru to aid his chances of gaining a work permit.

Birmingham City’s current transfer record is the six million pounds the club paid to Valencia to sign Nikola Žigic in the summer of 2010.

Onyekuru has been chased by the likes of West Ham, Arsenal and Swansea City after his phenomenal breakthrough season in Belgium in which he scored 24 goals in all competitions.

The promising Nigerian winger, Viv Solomon-Otabor is on the books of Birmingham City.
