Police officers at Yemetu Police Station in Ibadan, Oyo State have arrested one Lekan Adeen, 23 for defiling a 5-year-old girl.
The Public Relation Officer of Oyo State Police Command, SP Adekunle Ajisebutu who confirmed the incidence explained that the suspect’s arrest followed a complaint from the parents of the victim. He said that the incidence occurred at an area called Attenda, behind National Television Authority (NTA) area of Ibadan.
The father to the victim, who reported the case at Yemetu Police Station, said that the suspect, Lekan who was living at a compound behind the shop of his wife lured his 5-year-old daughter into his room and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her, after he had sent another girl, whom she was playing with under the pretence of an errand.
In his confessional statement to Pmparrotng.com, the suspect, Lekan Adeen disclosed that the incident was his first time of committing such act, saying that his habit of buying candies and biscuits for them (children) endeared their closeness to him.
The victim has been taken to the hospital for immediate medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Divisional Police Office at Yemetu Police Station, Mr. Pius Afachung has said that the case would be transferred to the Police Headquarters, where the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department will take it up for proper investigation and possible prosecution of the suspect.
