The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole has charged all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love at all times, stressing that the two main faiths in the nation clearly demands this from all humans.
Pastor Oluwawole gave the charge in a congratulatory message to Muslims in all the wards in Moba Local Government Area of the state, the entire Ekiti State and the Nigerian nation at large, in commemoration of the completion of this year’s Ramadan fasting.
In a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, Pastor Oluwawole stressed that most of the teachings of the Ramadan period focus on love among Muslims and their neighbours of other faiths, hence, the need to encourage the virtue even beyond the month of Ramadan.
He congratulated leaders of the Muslim community in the state, beginning from the chairman of the league of Imam and Alfas in the South West, Edo and Delta states, Sheik Jamiu Kewulere; all the imams in all the 16 local government areas of the state and their entire followers.
Oluwawole said; “as I join millions of other Nigerians, on behalf of the entire members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, to say eld Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers and sisters, I enjoin us to remember that all the injunctions that signpost the Ramadan period revolve around love. Both Islam and Christianity preach love as a core value of our relationship with Almighty Allah. So, love is clearly a major demand of both faiths from their adherents.
“We must, therefore, encourage the virtue of love, even beyond the month of Ramadan. Our dear state, Ekiti, needs a strong bond now more than ever before. So does the entire nation of Nigeria. It is my prayer that all the favour you have received as gains of your obedience to Allah during the Holy Month shall be permanent.”
The Speaker also thanked all Muslims in the state, particularly in his Moba Constituency 1, for their support for the Ayodele Fayose-led government, charging them to continue in this trend, “so as to continue to enjoy dividends of democracy under the leadership of Governor Fayose.”
