Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has condemned the gruesome murder of the Olowo of Owoland, Oba Patrick Fasinu with a charge to the security agencies in the state to step up investigation towards unraveling those behind the dastardly act.
Adekunbi decried the killing of the Oba Fasinu, while responding to the remarks of the member representing Egbado South State Constituency, Hon. Julianah Akintayo under Personal Explanation on the murder of the monarch last week along Owo Community by assailants.
He stated that those behind such heinous act must be brought to book by the law enforcement agents, lamenting that such could still happened in spite of government huge investment in fortifying security network across the State.
Meanwhile the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has forwarded to the State House of Assembly, a bill for a law to provide for the conservation, reservation and control of Forest and wildlife in the State.
Speaker Adekunbi who read the letter dated 31st July, 2017 before members of the Assembly at the Plenary said that the correspondence followed a resolution of the 18th State Executive Council meeting held on the 2nd of May, 2017 and was meant for the consideration and passage of the Assembly.
The letter partly reads, “I forward herewith a bill for a Law to Provide for the Conservation, Reservation and Control of Forests and wildlife in Ogun State, as approved at the Eighteenth Meeting of the Executive Council of Ogun State held on 2nd May, 2017, for the kind consideration and passage of the House of Assembly”.
In the same vein, the Speaker has appealed to residents of the State to exercise more patience as the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led-administration remains irrevocable committed to the rehabilitation and construction of more roads across the State.
He made the appeal in his response to the submissions of the members representing Odeda and Ijebu North-East State Constituencies, Honourables Yetunde Sogbein and Olujimi Otukoya respectively who spoke under Personal Explanation on the need to rehabilitate Odeda-Opeji road as well as Eruwon- Atan road in their constituencies.
Adekunbi assured that the State government would commence more work on roads infrastructure as soon as the rainy season subsides.
