The Ogun State House of Assembly says it will continue to support the various developmental policies and funding of education by the executive arm of government in the State so as to consolidate on the success achieved in all sectors of the State’s economy.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi said this while playing host to members of the Civil Society Action Coalition of Education for All (CSACEFA) led the State Coordinator, Mrs. Taiwo Adebanjo on an advocacy visit to the State House of Assembly, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
Adekunbi, who noted that the State Government had consistently devoted the largest chunk of its annual budget to education due to priority accorded the sector in the State, assured that more would still be done to achieve the qualitative and affordable education policy of government in the State.
He lauded the executive arm for executing various development projects including the construction of model schools across the State to further reposition the sector to meet international standard.
The Speaker explained that the 8th Legislature as active partner in the rebuilding mission had always ensured speedy consideration of legislations concerning the sector and other development issues in the State with a view to achieving the success of Senator Ibikunle Amosun’s rebuilding mission.
The Speaker, who promised that the issue of un-accessed Universal Basic Education (UBE) funds would be addressed in due course, commended the group for their commitment to educational development across the three Senatorial Districts.
Earlier in her presentation, Mrs. Adebanjo applauded the passion of government towards the development of education in the State, expressing that the level of investment in the State education sector was commendable.
