Security agencies in Oyo State have been assured by the Board of trustees of the state’s Security Trust Fund of necessary support towards securing lives and properties of the citizens, saying that it will build an Emergency Telephone Centre to aid security in the state.

The Secretary of OYSSTF, Mr. Femi Oyedipe said this in Ibadan on Monday, adding that the board under the leadership of Chief Bayo Adelabu, the Deputy Governor, Operations of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) resolved at its last board meeting to always come to the aid of security agencies in the state as well as improving security.

Oyedipe, quoting the Chairman, Chief Adelabu, noted that the board is aware of the shortfall from the federal government to security agencies, adding that the board has aligned with the existing programmes of Senator Abiola Ajimobi in ensuring that security of lives and property remains a cardinal point of the government.

According to him, “the Trust Fund will do all it can do to assist security agencies. The Board will in due course arrange funds from its partners to buy patrol vehicles and repair the existing ones which are in bad shape in order to ensure that security agencies perform their primary functions without hindrance.

“The Chairman of the board is already talking to some corporate organisations with a view to partner with the Trust Fund in providing Street Lights in some areas and resuscitating some existing ones. Also, the board has approved for immediate repairs most of the vehicles belonging to some security agencies in the state in order to increase mobility.

“We will also build an Emergency Telephone Centre in the State for rapid response to security related issues. We will equally assist the State and the citizens in providing enabling environment for flow of investment and peaceful co-existence of all and sundry,” the OYSSTF secretary said.

Mr. Oyedipe said the board commended Governor Ajimobi for his continued commitment to all the security agencies, stressing that all hands will be put on deck to ensure the sustenance of peace in the state.
