Former governor of Oyo State, Senator Rashidi Ladoja has been challenged by the state’s chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to produce the evidence that he asked the Oyo State Housing Corporation for the cost of the land magnanimously allocated to him by the state government.
The party equally noted that the land allocated to Senator Ladoja free of charge as referenced by him to be a benefit as a former governor followed due process, saying that Governor Abiola Ajimobi in his characteristic manner acted benevolently towards the ex Governor Ladoja in accordance with the law.
The Party in a statement on Ibadan on Tuesday by its Director of Media, Research and Strategy, Dr Abdul Azeez Olatunde said that section 17 (1) of the Land Use Act of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1978) states that: The Governor may grant a statutory right of occupancy free of rent or at a reduced rent in any case in which he is satisfied that it would be in the public interest to do.
Dr Olatunde said that the statement credited to the media aide to the former governor was not only misleading but an attempt to rubbish the goodwill as well as benevolent act of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.
He said, “We consider the statement credited to Senator Ladoja’s media aide as an unnecessary effrontery in the face of facts which we have placed before the general public. We are not really surprised because it has been the stock in trade of Senator Ladoja to distort facts as evident by his many claims of initiating key achievements of Governor Ajimobi.
“After the inauguration of the Mokola flyover, Senator Ladoja went to town claiming that the project was sub-standard, hence, the need to put a crossbar by the government. But not long after, the government showed many bridges with barriers both locally and internationally. This is not the first time Senator Ladoja and his cohorts will be telling white lies to misinform the general public.
“Not long ago as well, Mr. Seyi Makinde, a serial gubernatorial candidate and party sole proprietor like Senator Ladoja, in a statement said that Governor Ajimobi lied about their meeting prior to 2015 elections. Dignifying Mr. Makinde with a response will amount to coming to the level of a confused man. He does not know what he wants and it will be a total disaster having an individual like him at the helms of affairs in the state,” Dr Azeez stated.
