2018 Governorship Election: Ekiti Speaker Charges INEC On Equity

Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission to provide a level playing field for all political parties that will take part in the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

According to statement by the Speaker’s Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, the lawmaker gave the charge at a recent meeting of stakeholders of all political parties in the state organised by the new Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Abdul-Ganiy Olayinka Raji.

Organisers of the meeting had said it was to rub minds with the stakeholders so as to ensure free, fair and credible election in the state come next year.

Speaking at the event, Pastor Oluwawole advised INEC to follow all the laid-down rules and regulations, adding that each political parties should also be made to follow the Electoral Act to the letter.

“Each political party should also follow rules and regulations of Electoral Act. All political parties should go to the field and work rigorously. They must all do away with campaign of calumny. We are one in Ekiti State and we are known for good things.

“What is required from the INEC is strict adherence to the dictates of the Electoral Act. We must have free, fair and credible election. The INEC must provide a level playing field for all the parties that are taking part in the election,” he said.
