Ogun Speaker Honoured By International Scouts Council

In recognition of the Ogun State House of Assembly’s role in the all-round development of the State as well as the promotion of peace, stability and harmonious relationship among all arms of government in the State, the Scout Council has decorated the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon Suraju Ishola Adekunbi as the International “Messenger of Peace Ambassador”.

Decorating the Speaker at the Assembly complex Oke Mosan, Abeokuta ,  the Scout Council represented by its National Assistant Chief Commissioner, Mr. Tola Adenekan in company of the State Executive members of the organization, explained that the decoration was in commemoration of the Annual International Peace Day aimed at inspiring young people to work towards peace and development of their immediate society and the nation at large.

Adenekan who stated that the organization identified with the Speaker Adekunbi for his exemplary leadership style in directing the affairs of the assembly, added that scout was poised to contribute to the education of young people, through a valued system based on the Scout promise and Law, to build a better world where people are self-fulfilled and play a constructive role in the society.

He further extolled the Assembly for passing a resolution which creates enabling environment for voluntary organizations to thrive in schools in the State, just as he sought for more legislative support at achieving the vision of the international organization in the State.

In his separate presentation, the State Scout Commissioner, Prince Kola Adewale remarked that the organization was an active partner in the grassroot development through priorities based on self-development in youth as well as identifying with peace-related issues in the community.

Responding, Speaker Adekunbi appreciated the scout for the decoration, saying that successes recorded by the assembly under his leadership were as a result of support of members in the interest of the state and development of its economy.

Adekunbi in company of his Deputy, Olakunle Olumo, Honourables Olayiwola Ojodu, Oludare Kadiri and Tunde  Sanusi stressed that development could only be achieved in any society devoid of rancor and disunity among all its stakeholders, assured them of the assembly’s continued support with a charge to them to embark on massive re-orientation and sensitization of members of the public especially school pupils in the State.
