Former Minister of Sports, Professor Taoheed Adedoja has appealed to governments at all levels to give priority to the welfare of workers in the country.
Prof Adedoja made the appeal while addressing the audience at the 40th anniversary of College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State.
Adedoja, who was also a former Provost of the institution described workers as pillars of institutional development whose contributions towards the survival of the country cannot be over looked.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain noted that the welfare of retirees is also very important and therefore, should be given attention, having served the country with strong dedication and loyalty.
While speaking on the present situation of the institution, Professor Adedoja disclosed that the upgrading of College of Education (Special), Oyo to university status is long overdue, saying that the institution, which was established 40 years ago has produced many quality human resources more than several other institutions in the country.
The former gubernatorial candidate in Oyo State, therefore, urged the federal government to do the needful in connection with the upgrading of the institution.
Professor Adedoja was later bestowed with distinguished award of “Pillar of Heritage”
