The National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Gani Adams, has revealed that he has received a letter confirming him as the 16th Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.
He said he got the official letter of confirmation on Sunday evening.
While speaking with PMParrot on the telephone on Sunday evening, Adams could not hide his joy as he enthused “I am so appreciative of our father, the Iku Baba Yeye, Dr Lamidi Adeyemi for honouring me with this prestigious Yoruba traditional title.”
Gani Adam’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Segun Akanni who also confirmed this in a telephone conversation said “we just received the appointment letter this evening”.
Late MKO Abiola, who died in 1998 was the last holder of the prestigious Yoruba traditional title. Before the late businessman turned politician, Late Samuel Ladoke Akintola, was the Are Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland.
Since the demise of MKO Abiola in 1998, the position of the head of Yoruba warlord had been vacant until Sunday when a letter of appointment was given to the OPC leader by Oba Adeyemi.
Meanwhile, the Aare Ona Kakanfo designate, Sunday night, returned to Lagos and was welcomed by teeming admirers.
In another chat with PMParrot, he informed that the day and time of official installation will be communicated to all friends, admirers and supporters later.
