As part of efforts towards ensuring a healthy society, there is need for the Council Chairmen in Ogun State to complement the efforts of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration at the grassroot level through promotion of a clean and secure environment.
The State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs led by Hon. Olusola Sonuga gave the charge at the on-going 2017 budget assessment tour to Ijebu North Local Government Area, Ijebu Igbo West, Ijebu North Central and Ago Iwoye Local Government Council Development Areas.
Sonuga explained that such health service delivery could be only achieved by promoting a harmonised and holistic approach to environmental challenges and with focus on improved operational efficiency in environmental management.
Sonuga, who remarked that the present administration had prioritized environmental management in all ramifications, urged residents of Local Government areas and LCDAs to cooperate and support the Managements of the councils to achieve a clean and flood-free state.
Other members of the Committee including Honourables Ganiu Oyedeji, Akanbi Bankole, Julianah Akintayo, Rasaq Oduntan and Aina Akinpelu, urged the chairmen to put in place people friendly measures to achieve increased revenue through efficient revenue collection machinery, stressing that there was need to redoubled their efforts at blocking revenue leakages.
In their response, the Chairmen of the Council and LCDAs, Mr. Adebayo Adekoya, Adegoke Adekanbi, Adefisan Olusola and Ayodele Ademosu assured that efforts were being intensified to increase the revenue of their Council area and LCDAs.
They promised that more development programmes and projects would be delivered in all the communities in the Council areas.
