New Nigeria Nationalists, a new political group has expressed its readiness to embark on a national walk to demonstrate and prove that contrary to the general belief that all Nigerians are self-serving, selfish and completely egocentric, there are still some dedicated citizens who are ready to give the future what it takes and make necessary sacrifices on behalf of the country.

Mrs. Foluso Makanjuola-Oyenuga, the National Coordinator of the group in an exclusive chat, said the 761-kilometer walk tagged ‘New Nigeria Walk’, will commence from the Lagos State House of Assembly, Lagos and terminating at the National Assembly, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“The walk is an initiative inspired by the need to create a social awareness that would shake the nation out of its established lethargy into visible and pragmatic action to rescue, repositioned and revitalized the Nigerian commonwealth and we are set to walk the talk, God being with us,” she said.

According to Mrs. Makanjuola-Oyenuga, the walk with the sub-theme ‘Let Workers Live’, which is projected to be completed on foot in about 45 days, would consist of about ten volunteer champions who are prepared to do the walk from start to finish, it would be a fully video, and photography recorded trek.

“The walk is an attempt to display to the world that contrary to some perceptions and accepted opinions, some people are still concerned, committed and commissioned to cause the rebirth that our country desperately needs. The walk also meant to be use to show solidarity with Nigerian workers both in the public and private sectors, that they are not forgotten and that indeed, Nigeria shall be prosperous eventually.

“Let Workers Live’’ is designed to drive home the sympathy towards workers and their plights in Nigeria by Walking for Workers and we will use the opportunity to assure citizens including workers that everybody’s interest and welfare shall be vibrantly, vociferously and vivaciously protected without fear wherever they might be in the whole wide world.

“In conjunction and collaboration with all relevant individuals, organizations and establishments, we shall always stand up for every Nigerian citizen and worker in and outside of Nigeria and promise to make every Nigerian proud again,” Makanjola-Oyenuga added.
