The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Pastor Kola Oluwawole, has charged Nigerians, particularly workers, to always show gratitude to God and those who have assisted them one way or the other.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday, the lawmaker gave the charge in a sermon he delivered at the November edition of the monthly prayer meeting of the House of Assembly, involving elected members and staff 0f the legislature.
Quoting the Bible from Romans Chapter 1: verses 21 to 2, Oluwawole pointed out the many dangers of ingratitude, which was the topic of the sermon.
“Gratitude is the act of showing appreciation to God, friends, associates and anybody that has done something for you, while ingratitude is the opposite. in every situation, Nigerians, let us be grateful. With God, we will get there.
“Part of the dangers of those who failed to be grateful is complaint every time. That is contained in Psalm 1. It can lead to total destruction or a long stagnation in the course of a person’s life.
First, we have to be alive to make demands. There are so many reasonswe have to be grateful to God and to our fellow humans who help us one way or the other. Failure to be grateful is invitation to destruction.
“The way to avoid the destruction is to first have peace with God, your maker and the only one we must be grateful to at all times, except our fellow humans who have done good deeds to us. We must be praising God. That is the example we were given in the case of Paul and Silas in the Bible,” he said.
Present at the event was the Clerk of the House, Mr Tola Esan, heads of departments in the Assembly and members of staff.
