The contributions of Super Eagles duo of Victor Moses and Leon Balogun have been recognized by the Confederation of African Football as pivotal to Nigeria’s successful 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification as both players were named in CAF Best XI of the qualifiers.
CAF named Moses and Balogun in a 4-4-2 formation that includes Ivory Coast’s Serge Aurier, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Egypt’s Mohamed Salah in the Best XI .
Moses scored two goals in Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign, one coming against Cameroon in the first-leg 4-0 trouncing.
Meanwhile Balogun missed the first qualifier against Zambia in Ndola but, returned to form a partnership with William Troost-Ekong.
That partnership conceded only two goals in four matches as Nigeria punched a ticket for the world cup.
Only one leg of qualifying matches are left – except in the case of Senegal and South Africa who have been ordered by FIFA to replay a match.
