- Orji Kalu Wants Buhari To Intervene In Their Rift
The renewed antagonism between Oyo’s Governor Abiola Ajimobi and the Minister of Communication, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has been decried by a former governor of Abia, Chief Orji Kalu.
Kalu has therefore called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to intervene in the feud.
He made the call in Ibadan on Saturday at the inauguration of the South-West Zonal Office of the Muhammadu Buhari Osinbajo (MBO) Dynamic Support Group.
The ex-Abia State helmsman submitted that the governor and minister were supposed to be the best of friends, adding that the rift if not addressed could affect the chances of the party in the state in the 2019 general elections and even beyond.
He said he was not afraid of telling people the truth because, “we are students of preaching peace and unity. All will agree with me that the governor and the minister are presently not working together.”
While the Shittu-organised event was going on, Governor Abiola Ajimobi was busy addressing APC faithful at the party’s state headquarters located at Oke Ado in the same Ibadan.
At the event, Ajimobi urged APC members in the state to accommodate new entrants and shun divisive tendencies.
He urged party members to be more concerned about forging a united front and ensuring that the APC remained the ruling party in the state.
The ‘Koseleri’ governor also assured that when the much-expected local government election holds in the state, all APC candidates will win.
He hinted that the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) would release the timetable for the council polls soon.
Earlier before the governor arrived at the Oke Ado venue of the event, PMParrot sighted most of the governorship and other aspirants trying to outdo themselves. Most of them gave out money to party supporters.
