Men of the Oyo State Command of the Nigerian Police Force were, Monday, drafted to Oke-Ado/Foko areas of Ibadan, the capital city of the State to disperse streets boys who were disturbing the peace of the area.
The street boys who reportedly represented different gangs started to unleash terror on residents of the area as early as 6 am.
PMParrot gathered that one of the street urchins lost his life before the arrival of policemen and other security operatives.
Residents of the area who spoke with PMParrot have called on the Senator Abiola Ajimobi-led government in the state to find a lasting solution to the menace of the street boys.
Said Muritala Adetunji, a mechanic “We are tired of the incessant problems being generated by these area boys in this community. We are hard working Nigerians. The government must come to help us stop this ‘wahala’.
“These boys bring trouble every week. It is only when it is reported that people get to hear about it. They come to us in our workshops to ask for money they do not deserve to earn. Most of them are able-bodied but they have decided not to learn a trade or work. Government must do something about this”.
Peace has since been restored to the affected areas.
