LG/LCDA Elections In Oyo State Fixed For May 12

In fulfillment of the promise of Senator Abiola Ajimobi, the governor of Oyo State, the conduct of local government election in the state has been fixed for May 12, 2018.

This development was confirmed on Friday at a press briefing in Ibadan, the capital city of the state by the Chairman of the State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC), Mr. John Olujide Ajeigbe.

The commission’s chairman noted that the local government elections previously scheduled for 19th January, 2017 was cancelled due to the Federal High Court Abuja verdict on the order of injunction.

Mr. Ajeigbe, however, established that the elections have been rescheduled to Saturday, 12th May, 2018. He added that all relevant information as well as, time-table will be rolled out on Saturday for the public.

The commission’s boss, therefore, used the opportunity to solicit for the support of the media and other relevant stakeholders as the commission is sets to conduct a free, fair and credible election in the state.
