FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers: How Flamingoes Held Cameroon To 2-2 Draw In Benin

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s team, the Flamingoes were held to a 2-2 draw by their Cameroonian counterparts in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers played inside the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin on Saturday.

Nigeria opened scoring in the game as early as the second minute of the encounter when Vincent Precious tap in Osaretin Oghenebrume’s pass from the right flank. Ngah Marie levelled scores for Cameroon seven minutes later with a brilliant header.

Then Cameroon went on to take the lead just before the half-time; turning th game completely on its head.

Oghenebrume restored parity for the Flamingoes scoring a sublime free-kick from the edge of the penalty area in the second half.

The results mean the Cameroon have the advantage heading into the second-leg, which comes up on 16 February.

The Flamingoes had eliminated their Ethiopian counterparts 1-1 on the away goals rule in the previous round.

The sixth edition of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup will hold from 13 November to 1 December 2018.
