The immediate arrest of Kashim Afegbua, the spokesman of the former military president, General Ibrahim Babanginda has been ordered by the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
This is coming just hours after the ex-Dictator was quoted as asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek re-election in 2019 and allow younger Nigerians to rule.
The IGP’s order was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Monday night by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), CSP Jimoh Moshood.
According to the FPRO, “the IGP gave the order on the arrest of Afegbua “for making false statements, injurious falsehood, defamation of character and for an act capable of inciting public disturbance throughout the country.
“He is therefore declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force and should report at the nearest police station anywhere he is in the country.”
