Political Parties’ Coalition Urges OYSIEC Boss To Resign

Oyo Independence Electoral Commission, (OYSIEC) boss, Mr.Olajide Ajekiigbe has been asked to resign his appointment.

Making the urge in Ibadan during a private radio discussion, representative of the coalition of Political Parties in the State, Mr. Gbenga Olayemi, who doubles as the Chairman, Labour Party in the State said for the OYSIEC boss to protect his dignity, he should resign the assignment given to him by the State Government because there is no way he can deliver the assignment without being partial to the All Progressives Congress, the party that gave him the job.

Both Mr. Gbenga Olayemi of the Labour Party and Dr. Babarinde Ademola of the People Democratic Party said the OYSIEC boss is a man of reputation but there is no way the State Government will not damage his reputation through the responsibility assigned to him.

They alleged that the ruling political parties in Nigeria have always not been sincere with conduct of local government elections in their states.

Representing coalition of about twenty two political parties of the Accord, Labour party, People Democratic Congress, and others, the two men blamed the State Government under the leadership of Senator Abiola Ajimobi of the delay in conducting local government in the State.

They said it is not even certain whether the local government election announced by the State Government will still hold on Saturday 12th day of May as announced because according to them, up till now, no serious preparation has been made by the State Government on the conduct of the election in the State.

The men, urged the people of Oyo State to shine their eyes when it is time for the general election as people in the ruling All Progressive Congress and the opposition, People Democratic Party have failed Nigerians.
