Finnish Veikkausliiga side Rovaniemen Palloseura have announced the signing of former Super Eagles defender, Taye Taiwo on a one-season deal.
RoPS is Taiwo’s second club in Finland as he wore the jersey of HJK Helsinki in 2015 and 2016.
Prior to moving to Finland, the left-back represented Marseille, AC Milan, Queens Park Rangers, Bursaspor, Dynamo Kiev, Lausanne and AFC Eskilstuna.
In his first words as a RoPS player, the Nigeria international told the club’s official website:” I’ve already learned that every match cannot always be won, but each match can give everything.
”In the field, I do not like it if the opponent can play. I do not want to give the opponents the opportunity to control the game, but I want to be the one who plays and controls.”
The 32-year-old has over 50 caps for Nigeria’s national team and was part of the Super Eagles squad at the 2010 World Cup.
Taiwo flew to Kajaani on Wednesday to join his new teammates ahead of Saturday’s Suomen Cup match against KuPS.
