The Grand Council of Yoruba Youth has concluded plans to engage the outgoing Governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola and his counterpart from Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on their accounts of stewardship ahead of Gubernatorial Elections in both States.
According to a press release signed by its national president, Awa Bamiji, the youth organization will use its 6th Edition of Yoruba Youth Leadership Summit, titled GBANGBADEKUN to take on both governors to speak on their achievements in office and their plans ahead of their states’ upcoming gubernatorial election later this year.
The interactive programme with the topic ‘Agbarijo egbe odo Yoruba: abo mi ree’ is schedule to take place on Tuesday 27 March, 2018, at Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja.
“We using this Summit to bring members of Afenifere, Yoruba Council of Elders, Yoruba Unity Forum, Yoruba Self determination Groups, NGOs, CSOs, CBOs, National Youth Council and NANS within the South West zone together, to come and participate in a very sensitive and intellectual issue that concerns everybody in the region. This can be best described as Yoruba Unity Summit in honour of these two outgoing Governors,” the release read.
According to the release, three prominent Yourba personalities will be honoured with the Odu’a National Awards, in form of beautifully carved Ori Olokun and they are Chief Reuben Fashoranti as Agba Akin ti lle Odu’a; Pa Idowu Sofola as Baba Eto ti lle Odu’a and Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams as Ajagungbade ti lle Odu’a.
Prominent personalities expected at the occasion include, the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode who also doubles as the Chief Host, Archbishop Ayo Ladigbolu, who is the Chairman of the occasion, while the sons and daughters of the past Yoruba Leaders, Amb. (Dr) Tokunbo Awolowo Dosumu, Tokunbo Ajasin, Hon. Bayo Abraham Adesanya and Architect Muyiwa Ige, are the Guests of Honour.
Others include Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, the Alaafin of Oyo and Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja, the Ooni of Ife, the royal fathers of the day; Yoruba Council of Elders’ President General, Pa Idowu Sofola, and Prof (Mrs) Sophie Oluwole will be the father and mother of the day, while Afenifere Leader and his Deputy, Chief Reuben Fashoranti and Pa (Senator) Ayo Fasanmi respectively, will be the Special Guests of Honour.
