The controversial centre referee who was in charge of the Nigeria Professional Football League Matchday 14 clash between Lobi Stars and Rivers United, Foluso Ajayi from Oyo State has been suspended by the League Management Company.
Ajayi, who is a FIFA badge Referee and her assistants, Aina Idris from Lagos and Abdulganiyu Abdulmalik from Bauchi were faulted for awarding a late penalty kick which allowed Lobi Stars to score a last minute winning goal against Rivers United.
Ajayi and her assistants were among match officials involved in fixtures of the NPFL 2018 Match day 14 that have been sanctioned over poor performance.
The match officials were recommended for suspension from further officiating of matches pending full investigation into their performances.
The five NPFL 2018 fixtures, which earned the match officials punishments, are Heartland vs Nasarawa United, Lobi Stars vs Rivers United, Go Round vs Rangers International, Yobe Desert Stars vs Enyimba International and FC Ifeanyi Ubah vs Plateau United.
Aside Ajayi and her assistants, other match officials recommended for suspension are Maroof Afolabi (Kwara), Akinsanya Segun (Oyo) and Alhaji Alhaji (Kogi) who officiated the NPFL game in Omoku between Go Round and Rangers
Also recommended for suspension are the following officials involved in the Heartland vs Nasarawa United match: O.O Awosakin, Busayo Ogunyamodi and I. Awosakin, all from Ondo state.
It would be recalled that Ajayi was withdrawn from the 2017 NPFL season and was later pardoned by LMC following the controversial decisions she made in the abandoned game between Kano Pillars and FC Ifeanyi Ubah last year.
