University of Benin Holds Sport Awards, Honours Okumagba Others

University of Benin has recognized some distinguished personalities that have contributed immensely to the growth of sports in Nigeria in an event tagged Uniben 2018 Sports Award, held inside the auditorium of the institution.

Among the dignitaries that received the Distinguished Sport Merit Award was the Chairman of Super Eagles Supporters Club, Prince Vincent Okumagba, who according to the organizers of the award has contributed greatly to the many successes, recorded by the Nigerian national side, especially their recent World Cup qualifier campaign.

“The moral boosts from the members of the supporters club cannot be undermined in the recent achievements of the Super Eagles, it has been long since our senior national team qualified for FIFA World Cup without losing a game, even with a game at hand, everyone that contributed to this noble feat deserve be recognize”, said Baye Osagie Sylvester, Uniben Sports Public Relations Officer

Others recipients of the varsity award were Edo State deputy governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Chairman Senate Committee on Sports, Sen. Obinna Ogba, a contractor to Shell/Chevron, Mr. Jimi Omo Agege and Mr. Bayo Ojulari also of Shell.
