As the race to replace Hon Michael Adesina Adeyemo, the late Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly at his Ibarapa East Constituency of the state gathers momentum, the ruling All Progressives Congress in Oyo state has picked Mr Kunle Adeyemo who is his younger brother as the candidate to fly the flag of the party at the June 2, 2018 Bye-election.
The vacancy was created due to the death of the former speaker who was representing the state constituency in the House of Assembly before his untimely death.
It was gathered that the party leaders in the state’s constituency reached the agreement to allow Mr Kunle Adeyemo complete the tenure of his late brother to enable the post to be zoned to Eruwa in the 2019 General Election. The state constituency is made up of Eruwa and Lanlate. Lanlate is made up of four wards while Eruwa is said to have six wards. Lanlate produced Adeyemo for its slot.
Earlier, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had slated a bye-election to fill the vacant seat of Ibarapa East State Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly for Saturday, June 2, 2018.
INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke, disclosed this in Ibadan on Tuesday, during a press briefing at the state headquarters of the commission.
The REC said political parties interested in fielding candidates for the election must conduct their primaries between before Saturday 19, May, just as he assured voters in the area of conducting a credible election.
