The Chief Judge of Oyo State, Justice Muntar Ladi Abimbola has charged Nigerians in positions of authority as well as members of the public to ensure fear of almighty Allah at all times, particularly during and after the period of Ramadan while discharging their civic duties and responsibilities.
The Chief Judge gave the charge during the 2018 and 9th Annual Ramadan Lecture organized by the Oyo State Judiciary Muslim Community held at the High Court of Justice, Ring Road, Ibadan on June 2nd, 2018.
Justice Abimbola, who was represented at the lecture by Justice Moshood Abass, implored Muslims occupying various positions of authority in the country to always portray themselves as good models and ambassadors of Islam through their character and behavior to other human beings.
While advising Muslims all over the state, the Chief Judge stated that based on the teachings of Islam, it is imperative for Muslims to always be upright.
He charged parents to ensure that their children are properly monitored so that they can imbibe good discipline in order for them to have solid foundation in Islam.
While speaking on the topic ‘Good Governance: the Role of Muslims’, the Guest Lecturer, Dr. Sirajudeen Bilal Al-Asrau explained that in order to take a country, state or a community to a rightful position, it is the collective responsibility of every citizen of that country to be upright.
He noted that what should be paramount on the minds of those in the political system or intending to join politics is to know that each and every individual will give account of his or her stewardship on the Day of Judgment in front of Almighty Allah.
Dr. Sirajudeen charged Muslims to increase the level of their participation in politics in order to ensure that the purpose of elections in the country is justified through transparent, meaningful and purposeful governance.
He also advised Muslim leaders in the country to always ensure that those that will represent the Muslim community are people that are properly trained and will exhibit good virtues that Islam represents.
The Royal Father of the Day and the Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba AbdulGaniyy Adekunle implored women to focus more attention on the upbringing of their children. He emphasized on their mode of dressing and the type of friends they should keep.
Professor Dawud Noibi and Alhaji AbdulWaheed AbdulWahab also advised young Muslim brothers and sisters to take the advantage of recently passed not too young to run bill to increase their participation in politics to change the fortune of the country to better.
The Chief Imam of Igboora, Alhaji Jamiu Alobalowo delivered the special prayer for the country, state and the Oyo State judiciary.
In attendance were judges, magistrates, politicians, religious and community leaders and Muslim staff members of the Oyo State judiciary.
