All is set for worldwide football icon, Chief Segun Odegbami, MON, to announce his interest in replacing the incumbent governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun come 2019.
However, in a chat with PMParrot, the enigmatic sportsman refused to unveil the political platform he wishes to use. All he said was “secret suspense!”.
Odegbami, who hails from Wasimi part of the state was one of Nigeria’s finest players in his heydays and is still being considered as one of the best players to have donned the green and white Nigerian jersey.
“Mathematical Sege” or “Big Shegs” as he is fondly called by fans once contested for the Presidential seat of the Nigerian Football Federation.
He is currently Nigeria’s second top scorer of all time and owns a Sports Academy, The International Academy, in his town, Wasimi where young, talented kids have an opportunity to learn sporting skills while they also get academic exercises.
Odegbami got his big break playing the IICC, now Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan and has been a Public Speaker of international repute and one of the Directors of Complete Communications Limited, owners of Complete Sports where he writes as a weekly columnist. He is also an active participant in a sports programme on NTA, “The Parliament” alongside seasoned sports journalist, Godwin Dudu-Orumen.
The announcement of his interest in the Ogun Governorship seat is to be aired on national television on Thursday, June 14th, 2018.
