Russian Premier League club, CSKA Moscow are mulling over a move for Super Eagles defender, Brian Idowu, as per reports.

Sports.ru says the Army Men are interested in signing the versatile Nigeria international but negotiations with the player have yet to begin.

Some unnamed mid-table teams in the Russian Premier League are also monitoring the situation of Brian Idowu.

The Saint Petersburg-born Idowu is free to talk to interested clubs as Amkar Perm stopped being a going concern last month and on top of that he is being owed wages by the club.

Russian Premier League rules state that Idowu will now be classed as a foreigner despite being a Russian citizen as he made his competitive debut for the Nigerian National Team against Croatia on June 16.

The 26-year-old has spent the whole of his career in Russia, playing for Smena-Zenit, Zenit St. Petersburg, Dynamo St. Petersburg and Amkar Perm.

Meanwhile, Brian Idowu’s agent, William Davila has debunked reports linking his player with a move to CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow.

Davila admitted to a Russian online website, championat.com that he has been in contact with another Moscow based team (either of Dynamo Moscow, Locomotiv Moscow) which is aside from CSKA Moscow and Spartak Moscow.

He also revealed that his player will be willing to play in Russia if the conditions are favourable.

“I do not know anything about CSKA’s interest in Idowu,” Davila told championat.com.

“I had contact with another Moscow club, but it’s not CSKA and not Spartak. I can say nothing more. Does Brian want to play in Russia? Why not? But it all depends on the conditions.”
